Xiaomi Shows Selfie Camera Technology at the Bottom of the Screen

Smartphone vendors are looking for a number of ways to make the screen free of notch, so the smartphone can have a very minimal bezel.

After presenting a hole in the screen to a pop-up camera, smartphone vendors are now trying to find other innovations, one of which is to develop a selfie camera below the screen.

Previously Samsung was reportedly developing this technology. Now it's the turn for Xiaomi to start showing off related to its new innovation.

As quoted by Tekno Liputan6.com from Ubergizmo, Friday (06/07/2019), Xiaomi's selfie camera technology under the screen through uploads on Twitter.

Xiaomi showed off this technology, shortly after Oppo showed selfie camera technology below the screen that they claimed was the first in the world.

Unfortunately Xiaomi did not mention details about how this technology works. However, this shows that it's actually not Oppo who developed the selfie camera technology below the screen.

Xiaomi's smartphone prototype with a camera below the screen seems to work, but it's not clear when Xiaomi will release the technology in the form of a commercial smartphone.

Previously, Oppo showed off the camera on screen

Previously Oppo was predicted to be the first smartphone manufacturer in the world to bring a selfie camera below the screen.

This was revealed through a short video uploaded by VP Oppo, Brian Shen on his Weibo account. Unfortunately, the post did not include more detailed information.

Continuing the video he posted, Brian Shen said, camera technology under the screen was still too early,

"At this stage, it is difficult for the camera below the screen to match the same results as a normal selfie camera," as quoted from Gizmochina, Monday (03/6/2019).

He continued, "the optical quality of smartphones will definitely decrease. But, there is no new technology that appears perfect when launched."

Oppo itself still has not provided information about when the camera technology below the screen will begin to be mass produced.

Samsung Develops Similar Technologies

Previously, South Korean media reported that Samsung was developing a perfect full-screen technology.

Citing the Gizmochina page on Monday (05/06/2019), Samsung Dispay's VP of R & D Group Yang Byung-duk revealed the possibility of a perfect smartphone full screen.

This screen technology aims to create a perfect full screen without any holes or notches on the screen.

According to information, all sensors will be embedded on the screen, without blocking the experience of viewing the screen or watching content.

You could say, if all sensors are placed on the screen, the camera sensor will also be on the screen. Even this will help Samsung to achieve a 100 percent screen display.

Reportedly this is not the first time Sasung has talked about his latest screen technology. In a number of events, Samsung has revealed their latest technology.

Unfortunately not everything was revealed about this screen technology.
